Atlantic Records was founded in 1947 by Ahmet Ertegun and is world renowned for its roster of classic R&B and rock and roll artists such as Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Led Zeppelin, Metallica and The Rolling Stones. Nowadays, Atlantic Records is an industry leader focusing on direct to fan marketing, digital sales, and artist development. The record label features a diverse roster of artists, including T.I., Kid Rock, Rob Thomas, James Blunt, Gnarls Barkley, Paramore, Simple Plan, Trey Songz, Missy Elliott, Panic At The Disco and Lupe Fiasco.
The Digital Media & E-Commerce team develops and markets all digital initiatives at Atlantic Records, including label and artist websites, interactive promotions such as contests and eCards, mobile/wireless initiatives, and all other online marketing and production activities.

The Web Developer for Atlantic Records’ Digital Media & E-Commerce department is responsible for building, updating and improving artist and label websites with hand-coded HTML, CSS, Javascript and PHP that is standards-compliant and valid. Interest in developing widgets, Facebook and Myspace applications a bonus! We’re looking for an experienced front-end coder who can translate a Photoshop design layout into CSS and HTML with their eyes (practically) closed. The developer should be comfortable developing code snippets and tools in Javascript/AJAX and PHP. We do a lot of JQuery development as well as working with API’s from Twitter and other social media partners. Our ideal candidate should be comfortable getting around in Unix environments, writing MySQL queries and working off XML feeds. A love of music and desire to help innovate the artist experience through Internet technologies is key. We expect the developer to:
Be open to new ideas;
Thrive in a fast-paced, energetic environment;
Work quickly and efficiently under pressure and sometimes stressful conditions;
Love building new websites, Web-based and desktop widgets (Facebook, MySpace, etc), Web-based applications for artist sites, contests, mobile WAP sites, and social networking sites.

Please note the job is ON-SITE at our corporate offices in New York City and freelance (minimum 37.5 hours a week). Must be eligible to work in the United States, no visa sponsorship and no recruiting companies please.
